“A School Bus Driver’s Remarkable Role Change”

If you think school bus drivers do little more than simply provide a ride, wait until you meet Mike Swinney with Carroll ISD. For the past few years he has implemented an education, motivation and awards program for the children on his route.

Focusing on safety, manners and an enjoyable daily experience, Mike teaches his riders about becoming good citizens and positive role models for each other. This includes encouraging the older riders to show their leadership by setting good examples of respectful behavior and active participation.

Parents have noticed and commented on the positive changes in their children’s attitudes toward riding the bus, and other drivers have begun following suit. This is a wonderful story that keeps building, and this Friday is your opportunity to hear what Mike is doing and how well it’s working. Our students are getting a top-rated education at CISD, and for some their learning experience begins on the bus!
