Amon G. Carter, Sr. is returning in the world premiere of AMON! The Ultimate Texan written by renowned journalist and longtime Texan, Dave Lieber. The play honors and celebrates the life and legacy of Amon G. Carter, Sr., the legendary Fort Worth civic booster and benefactor. As O.K. Carter said in a recent Dallas Observer article about Mr. Lieber and the play, “It is difficult to find any person, in any city, anywhere, that has had an impact on a community as much as Amon Carter did. Even though he’s not there, he was there.”

Dave Lieber (Playwright) has had a busy year. In addition to writing two investigative columns a week as “The Watchdog” at The Dallas Morning News, Dave finished the script for AMON! THE ULTIMATE TEXAN. He also completed a companion book of the same name that includes 100 classic Amon Carter photos and many stories not in the play. The book is for sale at the end of each performance at Artisan. As “The Watchdog,” Dave writes about matters that affect the lives of his readers—high property taxes, crooked roofers, scheming electric companies and much, much more. Check out his work at

When he’s not writing, Dave visits groups, companies and associations across the U.S. to entertain and teach business storytelling techniques. He’s earned his Certified Professional Speaking designation, one of only a thousand in the nation.

AMON! is his first play—and his eighth book. Other books include The Dog of My Nightmares: Stories by Texas Columnist Dave Lieber and his popular Dave Lieber’s Watchdog Nation: Bite Back When Businesses and Scammers Do You Wrong.

Dave is founder of Summer Santa, Inc., one of North Texas’ largest childrens’ charities. Summer Santa sends children in need from greater Northeast Tarrant County to summer camps, collects books and new toys for summertime distribution, sends kids to Artisan for their first play experience and offers free pre-camp medical checkups. Visit and learn about this charity that has no paid staff or physical office, but managed to raise and spend more than $1 million on behalf of area children. For his efforts Dave was awarded the Will Rogers Humanitarian Award from the National Society of Newspaper Columnists as the U.S. newspaper columnist who did the most to help his community.
