Topeka South Rotary is on the road this Friday! The club will enjoy a guided tour of the oldest part of the historic Topeka Cemetery with graves dating back to 1859. Portions of the cemetery are on the National Register of Historic Places. Walking shoes are recommended! We will gather at Mausoleum Row, any time after 7:00 am, for a continental breakfast and overview before the tour begins at 7:30 am. PleaseCLICK HERE for the directions provided by the cemetery staff.
Topeka South Rotary welcomes multiple new blue badges to our club. Congratulations go to Tina Anderson, Phil Tysinger, Barry Muninger, and Tyler Johnson!!
Topeka South Rotary's exchange student, Leonardo Berti Malaquias, was joined by his grandfather, Eloi Berti, and mother, Alessandra Berti from Brazil. It was a special morning getting to hear Eloi, via Leonardo's translation, tell about his own Rotary experience as past governor of Rotary District 4730. They were both very proud of Leonardo's participation in the Rotary Student Exchange program.
We are only three months away from this year’s trip to Guatemala and we want to give a big thank you to Topeka South Rotarians for your weekly donations to our can money fund this quarter. Your generous donations will be buying at least 40 pairs of shoes to take to the Guatemalan children and provide us funds to paint the clinic in Patanatic.
This year’s trip will be from July 15th-22nd. We already have several Rotarians from both TSR and the Downtown club committed to going on this trip. They will be personally delivering and/or implementing all of items that TSR and Downtown donate or purchase. If you would like to be a part of this trip please contact Faron Barr (785-266-8333 or fbarr@t-mfinancial.com). This linkhas more information about the trip.
There are still several items needed to make this years’ service trip a success. Starting at our Friday morning meeting on May 4th and continuing for each Friday in May, we will be collecting the following items:
Baby clothes age 1 month to 24 months
Tooth brushes
Pens and pencils
Wood crayons
Erasers
Soccer balls
Basketball and volleyballs
Over the counter medicine such as prenatal vitamins, ibuprophen, and Advil
We thank you for your continuous support of this very important project.
Mark your calendars for a fabulous golf outing to benefit Topeka South Rotary! This year is the 26th Annual Topeka South Rotary Golf Tournament. Proceeds will benefit the Rotary Foundation.

Cypress Ridge Golf Course
Golf committee chair Gary Lucas challenges each Rotarian to get together a team with three non-Rotarians. A great way to raise more money and invite some prospective members. Just $85/per person includes green fees, cart, driving range, box lunch and refreshments. You will soon be able to register for this tournament via the Cypress Ridge web site. We’ll provide that link in upcoming Wednesday newsletters.
If you have a raffle prize you’d like to donate, email gary@garylucas.org. Hole sponsorships are available at just $100. If you recruit a hole sponsor, that $100 can be made in your name to the Foundation. This is an easy way to work toward the Paul Harris designation.
See you on the golf course!
