For our March 1 meeting, TSR will be going off-site to Harvesters. Our volunteer shift is from 7:30-8:30 am, but please plan to arrive about 5 minutes early to get checked in. March is National Nutrition Month to help raise awareness of making informed food choices. Due to that, we are asking that each Rotary member bring fresh produce to donate, as well as your time. The best fruits and vegetables are known as the Hard 7, because they are nutritious and have a long shelf life. Those items are: Oranges, Apples, Carrots, Onions, Cabbage, Potatoes, and Sweet Potatoes. We will be working in a warehouse environment so below are a few items to remember: - Everyone will want to dress very casually and layer for warmth.
- Open-toed shoes life flip-flops or sandals are not allowed.
- Jewelry should be kept to a minimum.
- Children under the age of 8 are not permitted in the warehouse for safety reasons.
- All volunteers must be free of contagious illness (runny nose, colds, the flu, strep throat, etc.)
When entering Harvesters, plan to go through the main entrance (red awning) and park in either the lot across the street or next to the building. |
