Fun in the sun at the June social

The June social was loads of fun. Thanks to Erika Skinner for organizing a great evening. See more of the photos on the club's website photo album here.

Wish list for Guatemala

It's time to organize for Guatemala. Jorge says, "for sure we will appreciate any support in regards medicine, multi-vitamins, shoes, water filters (to replace the ceramic filter) cook stoves, beds and baby clothes." You can download the wish list here. Financial contributions are also welcome.

This photo is from last year's trip. See all those smiling faces! "Service above self" in action.

TSR 25th Annual Golf Tournament June 23

It's gonna be a blast!

This year is the 25th Annual Topeka South Rotary Golf Tournament. Proceeds will benefit the YWCA and Easter Seals Capper Foundation.

Golf committee chair Gary Lucas has lots of Caddyshack fun up his sleeve! He challenges each Rotarian to get together a team with 3 non-Rotarians. A great way to raise more money and invite some prospective members. Just $85/per person includes green fees, cart, driving range, box lunch and refreshments.

Gary is looking for raffle prizes, and hole sponsorships are available at just $110.

If you have questions, email Gary here. Download the registration flyer with full details here.

Benjy Zhang Presents Fourth Check for Sole Mates

Benjy (son of TSR member Baili Zhang) presented the fourth check to TSR Sole Mates at last Friday's club meeting, bringing the total amount he has donated in the past four years to $2,454. He also bid farewell to TSR before heading east to attend the University of Pennsylvania this fall.

He plans to continue to raise funds for Sole Mates through the sales of his professionally recorded CD, “Music for the Sole," which will be completed in late August. He suggests a donation of $10 per copy, and all proceeds will go to Sole Mates.

Many thanks to Benjy for sharing his immense talents in selfless service.

Greetings from Rotary International Conference

"Hannah and I have been learning a lot and are meeting people from all over the world. We heard from Bill Gates, John Cena, Minda Dentler (polio survivor and first female wheelchair athlete to complete an Ironman) and Ashton Kutcher today.

We witnessed the initial public pledges from Rotary, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and many other organizations toward the remaining fight against polio to the tune of $1.2 billion.

We are sharing this humbling experience with 33,000+ Rotarians from around the world. Tomorrow we look forward to hearing from a number of Polio Eradication Ambassadors including Golf Icon Jack Nicklaus." —Paul
