5-25:  DR. TIFFANY ANDERSON - KANSAS ROOM WASHBURN UNION
Please join us in the Kansas Room of the Washburn Union this Friday to hear from Dr. Tiffany Anderson, superintendent of Topeka Public Schools. She will share her vision for the county’s largest school district and a review of the 2017-2018 school year. Dr. Anderson joined USD 501 in 2016 and has been an educator for more than 25 years. She has been a member of Topeka South since moving to Topeka.

Mark your calendars for a fabulous golf outing to benefit Topeka South Rotary! This year is the 26th Annual Topeka South Rotary Golf Tournament with Capitol Federal Savings as the Title Sponsor! Proceeds will benefit the Rotary Foundation.

Golf committee chair Gary Lucas challenges each Rotarian to get together a team with three non-Rotarians. A great way to raise more money and invite some prospective members. Just $85/per person includes green fees, cart, driving range, box lunch and refreshments. Here is a link to the online registration on the Cypress Ridge website so please sign your team up today!
 
If you have a raffle prize you’d like to donate, email gary@garylucas.org. Hole sponsorships are available at just $100. If you recruit a hole sponsor, that $100 can be made in your name to the Foundation. This is an easy way to work toward the Paul Harris designation.

DONATIONS NEEDED FOR OUR SERVICE TRIP TO GUATEMALA
We are only three months away from this year’s trip to Guatemala and we want to give a big thank you to Topeka South Rotarians for your weekly donations to our can money fund this quarter. Your generous donations will be buying at least 40 pairs of shoes to take to the Guatemalan children and provide us funds to paint the clinic in Patanatic.
 
This year’s trip will be from July 15th-22nd. We already have several Rotarians from both TSR and the Downtown club committed to going on this trip. They will be personally delivering and/or implementing all of items that TSR and Downtown donate or purchase. There are still several items needed to make this years’ service trip a success. Starting at our Friday morning meeting on May 4th and continuing for each Friday in May, we will be collecting the following items:
 
 
  • Baby clothes age 1 month to 24 months
  • Tooth brushes
  • Pens and pencils
  • Wood crayons
  • Erasers
  • Soccer balls
  • Basketball and volleyballs
  • Over the counter medicine such as prenatal vitamins, ibuprophen, and Advil
