Dawn is the Chief Executive Officer of the Topeka Boys & Girls Club. The club's mission is "to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens."

We'll hear from Dawn about the importance of nurturing youth, projects underway and Rotary's partnership with the club.

Meet RI International President 5.31

If you won't be able to attend the 100th Anniversary Gala that the Emporia Rotary Club is hosting the evening of Wednesday, May 31, you will have another opportunity that day to meet Rotary International President John and Mrs. Judy Germ by attending a special luncheon meeting of the Lawrence Rotary Club. President John will be the keynote speaker at the luncheon.

Here is a link with all the event details.

TSR 25th Annual Golf Tournament June 23

It's gonna be a blast!

This year is the 25th Annual Topeka South Rotary Golf Tournament. Proceeds will benefit the YWCA and Easter Seals Capper Foundation.

Golf committee chair Gary Lucas has lots of Caddyshack fun up his sleeve! He challenges each Rotarian to get together a team with 3 non-Rotarians. A great way to raise more money and invite some prospective members. Just $85/per person includes green fees, cart, driving range, box lunch and refreshments.

Gary is looking for raffle prizes, and hole sponsorships are available at just $110.

If you have questions, email Gary here. Download the registration flyer with full details here.

TSR Wins Distinctions at District 5710 Conference

There are great reasons to celebrate TSR's recognitions at last weekend's district conference. We received the Presidential Citation for last Rotary year—a significant accomplishment.

Additionally we received a new award…the “Governors Bell." This award is intended to be assigned yearly at the District Conference solely on the District Governor's discretion to 1 of our 44 district clubs for recognition of outstanding service and fellowship. Basically, their favorite club. The bell is then transferred to the next club at the next conference.

Cheers to the board, volunteers and all the members who make our club outstanding. It's great to see others notice us, too.

See the photo album here.

Nominations Open for 20 Under 40

The Jayhawk Council, Boy Scouts of America is accepting nominations for outstanding leaders under the age of 40. The annual 20 Under 40 event has honored numerous Topeka South Rotarians in years past. And we hope they will again!
Go to this link to find out more and nominate someone you admire. Nominations close May 24.

Teacher Lunch Bunch a Big Success

Thanks for helping make the very last Teacher Lunch Bunch a big success!

I believe everybody had a great time, and it was a wonderful capstone to a longtime relationship.

About a dozen Rotarians kicked off a great spring weekend for these great folks. Our club's Can Money provided pizza, drinks and a nice gift card and much needed thanks and recognition for the Avondale West folks.

THANKS TO ALL!! —Glenn
