3/22: WASHBURN LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE (Kansas Room)

Claire Leffingwell, current High School Leadership Academy Fellow, and Brooke Manny, current Leadership Challenge Event Fellow, will join TSR’s very own Dr. Michael Gleason, as they give us an overview of Washburn University’s Leadership Institute.

They will highlight the two pillar programs that require a lot of community support, and likewise provide some great leadership development for the community. Coffee's on at 7:15, breakfast at 7:30 am in the Kansas Room in the Union.

ANNUAL GIVING TO ROTARY FOUNDATION
Every Rotarian, Every Year (EREY) is the fundraising initiative designed to encourage support for the Rotary Foundation’s Annual Fund. EREY aims to engage every Rotary club member by:
  • Encouraging members to contribute to the Annual Fund every year
  • Encouraging them to participate in a Foundation grant or program every year
Through the SHARE system, contributions to The Rotary Foundation are transformed into grants for projects that change lives.

We encourage each member to consider giving $100 each year to support The Rotary Foundation. If you want to have the automatically handled either yearly, quarterly or monthly, you can sign onto www.rotary.org and once logged in, click GIVE, followed by the red DONATE button, and then select Annual Fund - SHARE. If you have any questions or need assistance, contact Anne Wardner.

This donation also goes to support your Paul Harris Award. Speaking of the Paul Harris Award.... if you are an awardee we will be taking a group photo on May 3 of ALL of TSR's Paul Harris Award winners. If you are close to your first award, consider giving before this date, in order to be included in the group shot!

DISTRICT CONFERENCE IN TOPEKA APRIL 26-27
The Rotary District Conference 5710 will be held at the new Cyrus Hotel in downtown Topeka, April 26-27. To register online today, click here.

If you have never attended a conference before, this is the conference for you. You can attend for the discounted price of only $69, limited to the first 30 to register.

Friday begins at 1:00 with One Rotary Summit, a leadership session with DGE Jason Leib and Neil Wakefield. At 5:30 the fun ramps up with a casual cocktail party, featuring our own PDG/RI Director Larry Dimmitt and his bluegrass band, "Bluemont Singer Revival." Then we take the party to the streets for more FUN, music, magic, FUN entertainment wrapped around a scavenger hunt involving the Pennant (food, drink, bowling, arcade), the Iron Rail Brewing, a fine arts gallery and many specialty shops (Chocolates, Popcorn, Local Art, Art Glass) on Kansas Avenue. And a fabulous prize for the winners.

Saturday begins at 7:45 for an early breakfast that begins your journey to "Follow the Yellow Brick Road" . . to Inspiration. Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Todd Jenkins - "Dr. Bowtie" - an animated and inspirational national speaker. He has been featured at Zone meetings and Rotary International Conventional. Other speakers will include PDG Shirley Grace (RI President's Representative), Kansas Attorney Derrick Schmidt and the very entertaining Marvin Stottlemire.

A District project is planned for Saturday afternoon. The Conference will close with a cash bar reception and Celebration Banquet - all casual dress. The dinner will end about 8:30 pm for those who want to head home to their families.

Throughout the conference we will honor the memory of Rotarians that are no longer with us, celebrate our club presidents, and welcome our presidents-elect. There will be LOTS of ways to win prizes and awards!

Mingling with Rotarians will be encouraged - and rewarded! Sorry, no club tables allowed! The purpose is the get to know and network with Rotarians from all over the district.

As a bonus, the Cyrus Hotel has a fully stocked bar that includes many local beers. Purchase a drink and bring it to the conference meetings if you like - open bar all day - a request from many Rotarians in the pre-conference survey!

Get ready for some FUN!
