8-25: GEOFF DEMAN - KANSAS ROOM

Join us in the Kansas Room of the Washburn Union and hear Geoff Deman, Head Brewer and Director of Brewing Operations for Free State Brewing Company in Lawrence, who will discuss yeast and its importance in beer production. Geoff, a Kansas native, has over 20 years of professional brewing experience, having cut his teeth in Seattle in the 1990’s during craft beer’s nascence at Pike Brewing Company. He has judged many competitions and received several awards including the Gold Medal at the Great American Beer Festival.

5TH ANNUAL PUMPKIN RUN
GET READY, GET SET, LETS GO!
       
The 5th Annual Topeka South Rotary Pumpkin Run is approaching and we're excited to announce we have several businesses already committed to underwriting and two sponsors as well. If you would like to be a sponsor please contact Faron Barr. If you would like to participate by running, walking or strolling, you can register here or fill out one of our brochures here and turn it in to Faron or Austin.
 
This is a family fun event and we expect to see a lot of interesting characters on the trail. Dressing up in costume is highly encouraged! There will be a costume contest with a prize for one lucky adult and one lucky child. We all hope you can find a way to participate in the 2017 Pumpkin Run at 8:30am on October 28th. Shawnee Lake will be very colorful that morning.
 
Funds raised will be donated to Polio Plus. If you would like to contribute directly to Polio Plus, you can go online at Rotary.org or you could hand a check to Faron, Austin, or Anne specifying that the funds are to go to Polio Plus. If you contribute online, please send a note to Anne that you did it so we can account for what we have raised.

You won't want to miss the All City Topeka Rotary Clubs Social on Thursday, August 31 at 5:30p at Topeka Civic Theatre & Academy. Please strongly consider attending this event. Our District 5710 Governor, Adam Ehlert, is going to be there and he is very much looking forward to meeting members from Topeka's most outstanding Rotary Club!

NEW WAY TO PARTICIPATE IN RLI - LEARN MORE

There is a NEW way for Rotarians to participate in the Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI)!
 
The first and third sessions of RLI will be conducted as we have in the past – on Saturdays at Community America Ballpark in Kansas City, KS (Home of the T-Bones!) – thanks to our District Governor Adam Ehlert for hosting us. 
 
Here is what is NEW - the second session will be held ONLINE in two 2-hour week night evenings. You will be able to participate in this session from the comfort of your home or wherever in the world you are.  

RLI is open to any Rotarian who is interested in learning more about our amazing organization. Besides networking and exchanging ideas with other Rotarians, attending will enhance your knowledge of all facets of Rotary and how it works.
