PEACE & JUSTICE PROGRAMMING OPPORTUNITY IN OUR COMMUNITY

Thanks to the positive responses and participation from Topeka South Rotarians, the Rotary Peace & Justice Committee represented by all the Topeka clubs will be offering more programming in 2018.

We'll also let you know about peace and justice-related programs presented by others in the community.

Currently at the Mulvane Art Museum on Washburn University Campus:

1) Speaking Volumes: Transforming Hate - through December 21, 2017
The work of 39 artists who have transformed thousands of anti-Semitic and racist books into an uplifting and dynamic exhibition.

2) Detention Nation - through January 1, 2018
This installation is an insider’s view of US immigration detention facilities.

3) Film screening and conversation - Tuesday, December 12, 2017 6:00pm
Single mother Rosario leaves her young son in the care of his grandmother and illegally crosses the border into the US in hopes of a better life. When his grandmother passes away, Rosario's son begins a difficult and dangerous journey to join her.

Help us wage peace! We encourage you to visit these exhibits to learn more.

More information about these programs can be found at: http://www.washburn.edu/about/community/mulvane-art-museum/index.html

REMINDER - MORNING INVOCATION SIGN UP

We're are changing things up a little at Topeka South Rotary and giving people an opportunity to sign up for the morning invocation each week, providing the ability to plan ahead and select a more personal invocation. We would love to have invocations from all faiths and walks of life. There's nothing that says it has to be a prayer, maybe it's a morning meditation, or thought for the day. And don't worry, if you don't want to come up with your own we have found some great additional ones from Rotary organizations all over the world.

If you would like to sign up online just click here or email Cassandra. In case you want to direct your invocation at the subject matter of the day, we've included in the online document a list of our weekly speakers. Red Badges, keep in mind this is a great way to check off one of your Blue Badge Requirements! There are 34 weeks left open for the board year. With over 100 members I have faith this will fill up quickly.
