Please join your fellow Rotarians this Friday in the Kansas Room of the Washburn Union as we welcome Greg Schwerdt, incoming president of the Riverfront Authority, who will provide an update on the authority's goal of revitalizing the Kansas riverfront area. The public and private partnership has combined resources from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, National Park Services, Environmental Protection Agency, Shawnee County, the City of Topeka and private citizens to redevelop the unused land along the river for residential and business uses.
We are only three months away from this year’s trip to Guatemala and we want to give a big thank you to Topeka South Rotarians for your weekly donations to our can money fund this quarter. Your generous donations will be buying at least 40 pairs of shoes to take to the Guatemalan children and provide us funds to paint the clinic in Patanatic.
This year’s trip will be from July 15th-22nd. We already have several Rotarians from both TSR and the Downtown club committed to going on this trip. They will be personally delivering and/or implementing all of items that TSR and Downtown donate or purchase. If you would like to be a part of this trip please contact Faron Barr (785-266-8333 or fbarr@t-mfinancial.com). This linkhas more information about the trip.
There are still several items needed to make this years’ service trip a success. Starting at our Friday morning meeting on May 4th and continuing for each Friday in May, we will be collecting the following items:
Baby clothes age 1 month to 24 months
Tooth brushes
Pens and pencils
Wood crayons
Erasers
Soccer balls
Basketball and volleyballs
Over the counter medicine such as prenatal vitamins, ibuprophen, and Advil
We thank you for your continuous support of this very important project.
