It's hard to believe Ana and Alma are wrapping up their year with us! We look forward to hearing them tell us about their lives in the US and all the interesting things they've learned since they arrived last August. (A reminder for those who need it--Alma is from Italy, Ana is from Romania.)
LOCATION CHANGE--IT'S OFFICIAL!!
For the past several weeks, we have been meeting at the Southridge building instead of our normal location (Northpointe), due to renovation/construction. Lakeview has approached us about making this move permanent. This announcement was made by email earlier this week, and today the board voted in favor of accepting this change. So welcome to your new official meeting location! We will work on getting our official Rotary sign (currently at Northpointe) moved to Southridge.
Southridge building is the big high rise, located at 14001 W. 92nd St. When you exit the elevator on the 5th floor, turn right.

Installation Dinner/Picnic - Sat. June 17 (arrive 5:30, dinner about 6:15pm)
We have reserved the Lions Shelter at Sar Ko Par Park. Plan to arrive about 5:30pm, barbecue dinner will be served around 6:15pm. From Terry: "This shelter is the nicest one at the park with the big stone wall on the east side of the lake and right next to the playground and toilets. I would like to encourage kids and grandkids to come as well and make it more of a family thing. Did I mention kids would be free? As long as there isn’t any severe weather that afternoon/evening all should have a good time."
Please join us in congratulating fellow member Jason Leib in his recent appointment as District Governor Nominee Designate (DGND) for the 2019/2020 Rotary year! (For those not as familiar with Rotary, this means Jason will be District Governor for our district--District 5710--for the 2019-2020 Rotary year. Wow!)
Jason has expressed that he feels honored and humbled by this appointment. “I appreciate the club’s continuing support and encouragement in pursuing the role of District Governor since my first nomination in 2012. I hope to help all of the clubs in our district be as active and generous as we are!”
It's worth noting we have a couple past District Governors (PDG) in our club: Charlie Smith and Greg Peterson.
March 4, 2017, marked the 28th annual Lenexa Rotary ShrimpFest & Bingo. Read on for more details and fun pictures!
We have been receiving lots of feedback, including some who've said this was the best ShrimpFest ever! Overall attendance was down, meaning we were a full house but not squeezed in like sardines, and this contributed to an enjoyable experience. A huge thanks to Pat Thomas and the shrimp cooking team, as well as ALL the volunteers who helped make this event a success!
