Sad News of the passing of Shirley Manser, wife of Australian GSE team leader Arthur Manser
Dear Rotarian Friends in District 6040,
I know many of you became friends with Group Study Exchange (GSE) team leader, Arthur Manser, when he visited our district from Australia. Sadly his wife, Shirley died suddenly yesterday. I have been in contact with Kim Harvey, DG 2018-19, or my counterpart during that Rotary year. She sent me the following message regarding Shirley's death.
Both Arthur and Shirley were completely vested in Rotary. Memorials are suggested to be made to the Rotary Foundation which can be made at the rotary.org website which has a donate button at the top right corner of each page. You can let Arthur know your thoughts, kind words, donations via email at amanser@bigpond.net.au or on his Facebook page titled Arthur Manser. Please keep Arthur and his family in your thoughts and prayers...Julie McCoy, DG 6040 2018-19
From Kim Harvey: We had some sad news today that I thought you and those involved in our wonderful GSE program 2018-19 would wish to know about.
I am sorry to tell you that Shirley Manser, wife of GSE Team Leader PDG Arthur Manser, passed away yesterday (Jan 15). Her passing was sudden and unexpected - an accident on Wednesday at her home which left her with a significant brain injury. It has been a terrible shock for Arthur and his family and for Shirley’s friends in Rotary. Shirley was also a Rotarian and I was so happy to be asked to present her with a PHF Sapphire during my first official DG Club visit. She was a beautiful soul with a kind heart and a great love for Arthur and their family.
I know that Arthur made some lovely friendships during his GSE experience in Missouri and has always spoken so highly of you Julie. If you could kindly pass on this news to the relevant Rotarians in your District I would be most grateful.
