Stories

"No intelligent human being is ever 100% clear about how to act, he/she always weighs it. Whatever we do, out very existence, our eating, living, and breathing is an injustice to some other life form, if you look at it from their point of view. If you eat, you kill, if you breathe, you kill, if you walk, you kill. So if you don't want to do all that and kill yourself, still you kill. No action in the world is 100% right or 100% wrong. You just have to consider the larger good that you create with your actions and perform them accordingly." -  "From an ancient Scripture"

East San Jose Matters - It was an heartwarming and heartbreaking occasion to attend the East San Jose Community Walk Against Violence organized by Magdalena Carrasco - City of San Jose Council Member. Heartwarming to watch the community actively participate and do their best to eliminate violence in San Jose, and heartbreaking to listen to Mothers speak bravely about the the loss of their loved ones to meaningless violence. The event was flagged off from the Mayfair Community Center at 6:00 p.m on Monday, August 31, and was attended by many residents from the community including a lot of young children and youth. Rtn. Dave Cortese - President, SCC Board of SupervisorsCindy Chavez - SCC Supervisor, Eddie Garcia - Assistant Chief of Police, and some youth leaders were among the many dignitaries who attended and addressed the community. Robbie, Charlie and Suguna from our Rotary Club participated, and Robbie had the chance to be interviewed by a reporter from UniVision(a subsidiary of NBC). Another way for our club to reach out and make our presence felt in the locality.

Club Barbecue - Great Food, Great Company, and a very cheerful President who seemed to be having the time of his life - An evening of fun and Camaraderie. Thank You President Robbie for an awesome job as President the past year, and wishing you and our club the best of times ahead. A big thank you to our wonderful hosts Marisa and Richard, Ruth for the very fun crossword puzzleand to all our Club Members for a awesome evening.

Upcoming - Hope to see many of our Rotarians at the District Cabinet Meeting and Project Fair on September 2, 2015 at India Community Center, Milpitas, The Evening Meet of our club on September 10,2015 and the Rotary Public Relations Seminar on September 22, 2015 at the Santa Clara Police Community Room.

Full House - A reminder to all that we have some very interesting speakers lined up for the next few weeks including Magdalena Carrasco - City of San Jose Council Member, Kansen Chu - California State Assemblyman, and our very own Rtn. Dave Cortese - President, SCC Board of Supervisors. It is very important that we receive them well with good attendance, and make them feel welcomed. Many of our interactors and members from other local clubs will be visiting, so look forward to some very interesting club meets ahead. We also expect a full house for the Club Evening Meet on September 10, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. For those of us who have not been able to attend the regular afternoon sessions, this is a wonderful opportunity to catch up and make your presence felt. Please bring friends and potential Rotary members.
