Vocational Talk:
Walt Joyce, past president, was born in Wisconsin, then moved to California where he started selling shoes in Los Altos.  Later, he went into insurance, first in San Francisco, then San Jose.  Eventually he joined Ernie Hawks, another past president, in the insurance industry.  Although he sold the business, he is still licensed and active as an insurance broker.

Program:  Introduced by Bert (Program Chair Jack is absent)
Write and filmmaker, Caroline Cocciardi, has studied the art of Leonardo Da Vinci specifically, knot art.  She started with an examination of the Mona Lisa.  She recognized the embroidery on the bodice of her dress as mathematical, not merely decorative.  Intersecting octagons make up the Mona Lisa “knot”.  In fact, Da Vinci included interlocking knots in all of his paintings and were deeply symbolic.  She studied his use of circles, squares, and octagons.  Her ultimate conclusion:  Love conquers all.
