March 19, 2019
President Bert welcomed all in attendance and reminded:   Our Rotary International theme for this year is “Be the Inspiration”.  Our Mountain View Rotary Club theme is “Have Fun Being the Inspiration.”  
 
Twana led the Pledge of Allegiance.  Scott shared a thought for the day.   Phil led a song.  
Tom welcomed today’s visitors.    S. Srindhar, a visiting Rotarian from Bangalore, India, was introduced.   He is visiting his daughter in the Mountain View area.   S. Srindhar shared some highlights of his Rotary Club’s activities in India and he exchanged a flag.  
 
Cathy Merrill was introduced as a guest.    David Cain was a guest, assisting our presenter.  
Announcements:
Thanks to Scott for being our 4-fer today
            Community Service –CSMA sign-ups are going well.   This is a good opportunity to get                          Rotary’s name out in the community.   
Membership efforts -- Bring a friend to Rotary!
Polio Flash Campaign underway—Monique encouraged all to donate.
The sign up for the Club social at Monique’s on March 26 was passed around.    
Civil Grand Jury candidates requested –email Bert if interested.
The San Jose East Evergreen Crab Feed is on March 23.
District Training Assembly is April 6 – Signup sheet was circulated
District golf tournament is May 17 in Alameda – Roger is signed up. Any others                                      interested?

Diana Russell, co-founder of the Silicon Valley North Chapter of Citizens' Climate Lobby.
Diana Russell worked as Chief Nursing Officer/Chief Clinical Officer at El Camino Hospital for 12 years.  She is a co-founder of the Silicon Valley North Chapter of Citizens' Climate Lobby. She is a Registered Nurse and a member of CCL's Health Team. In this role she has been a major contributor to strategies for seeking endorsements from hospitals and healthcare providers.   Diana gave a presentation on CCL’s efforts lobbying efforts and a Carbon Fee and Dividend bill currently in Congress.   She spoke about CCL’s tie to Rotary through CCL’s founder, Marshall Saunders, who was a Rotarian in Southern California.

Vocational Speech:  Alan Goodman gave a talk about his background growing up in Arkansas, getting a degree in international management and how he came to own a promotional materials company.
