Non Meeting Notes
April 7, 2020

Hi Everyone.  Hope you are all doing okay and finding exciting ways to keep busy as we begin or fourth week of sheltering in place, aka, home detention.  Thank you to everyone who is sharing your stories and I hope to hear from everyone in the weeks to come.

Here’s our news for this week:

Rotary News

From President Tom:
All Club Meetings and Events are cancelled at least until after May 3rd.
President Tom and members of the Board are continuing to explore scheduling a Virtual Club Meeting possibly using Zoom.  More details on this to follow.

Our 2020 Scholarship Recipients have been selected and they are in the process of being notified.  We are uncertain at this time whether we will be able to have the recipients attend one of our meetings, but we will revisit this once our meetings resume.  Thanks to Judy, Bruce, and Jim Spangler for reviewing the applicants and selecting the winners and to Ken for his leadership of this effort.

If anyone knows of any of our members in distress or that need anything, please let President Tom or one of the Board Members know.  We want to make sure everyone knows that we are here to take care of each other.

Personal News

This is an opportunity for us to share whatever information we would like so we can keep up with what everyone is doing these days.

Cathy -- Good morning, I have been continuing my support of the local Farmers Market, walking there today in the rain wearing my happy-to-be-out rain boots.  Here’s a couple of pics from my walk, waiting for traffic on Central Expressway this morning and from last week, social distancing at the market then walking down Jackson Alley on the way home. It’s hard to fight crowds when no one shows up!

Bruce – The Cops and Gobblers program has purchased 600 $50 Safeway gift cards and we will be distributing them to CSA, the police and fire departments, and other community organizations to distribute to community members that are struggling right now.  We’re continuing to gather funds and we hope to make a second distribution later in the month or in early May.  If you want to know more about what we are doing, check out eh Mountain View Public Safety Foundation website at https://mvpsf.org/.

Twana – My Bruce and I have really enjoyed stories from the Non Meetings. By contrast, our lives are relatively tame. Spring has come to our yard in Mountain View (since we don't venture out beyond it much), Bruce is doing a lot of gardening while Twana is working her normal hours from our home office at a very, very busy Community Services Agency. It is still too cool on many days for our bees to be very active, but when the temperatures get above 60 and it's sunny, they come out and especially love the apple tree blossoms behind Bruce in the picture.
My favorite funny posting lately was one where someone was showing how to make two covid masks out of one bra.   Wishing everyone well!  ~Twana and Bruce
