President Judy greeted all Rotarians, visitors and guests.  Our call to action for 2012 -2013 is “Peace Through Service.”  Our District and club emphasis is Membership!

Jim Cochran let us in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Hiro Kariya gave us a thought to think about, referring to “two old guys….”

In honor of the Olympics, Phil Armi led us in God Bless America.

Jerylann said are all invited to the Chamber Mixer on Wed. evening 5 – 7PM. Rotary is a member of the Chamber which means we are all members.

Judy invited all current Board Members and other interested members to attend the Ave of Service meeting on Thursday October 25 @ the Double Tree Hotel.  The featured speaker will be Cliff Dochterman

Our next social meeting will be the last Tuesday in August.  August 28 at Scotts on Castro (formerly the Cantankerous Fish)

Our Board will meet next on Thursday evening August 16th at Jim Spangler’s office; 5 – 6:30PM.

Monique Kane reminded us that our next volunteer opportunity would be the weekend of Sept 8 & 9.  We will be helping with parking lots for a CHAC fundraiser.  She will pass around a sign up sheet soon.

Program

Walt Joyce introduced our speaker, Michael Becker, who was supposed to talk to us by phone from Chicago.  However, he was not available when called.  Walt did a good job of filling the time by talking about what the speaker was going to talk about and what future speakers in August would be talking about.

With the available time remaining we also had a chance to interact with the RYLA campers and ask them more in depth about their experience at Camp.  Hal has them committed to reviving the Interact Club at Mtn View High School.

Next Week

Our program next week will be led by Liz Blackford.  She will educate us on Enneagrams.

Dave Cole filling in for Hiro as the Three - fer  gave us these notes.
