President’s Greeting by Bert:   Good Afternoon & welcome to the Rotary Club of Mountain View! 

Our International theme is “Be the Inspiration”.  Our club’s theme is “Have Fun Being the Inspiration”.

Cathy led the Pledge of AllegianceHeather shared a greeting of fiddler riddles to celebrate President Bert in his last month as President.  
           
General Club Announcements:
 
  • Community Service: Dave shared Twana and Bruce greeted last week and CSMA shared a grateful thank you.  Also, Dave and Fred and spouses assisted with CSMA’s Gala and enjoyed the event.
  • Monique granted a Paul Harris Foundation pin to Jim C.
  • Kick out on June 22nd sign-up is ongoing, view your email or register at next week’s meeting.
  • Paul is in Hamburg for Rotary International Conference. 2020 conference is in Honolulu.
  • There is no BBQ and Golf Tournament this year.
  • Combined Board Meeting is June 12.
  • Rotary Club of Evergreen Valley invites all to their formal induction celebration into Rotary International on June 19th at San Jose City Hall.
  • Tom announced special thoughts and prayers for Scott’s family as his mother is receiving hospice care.
     
    Bio talk by Jason:  one of our red badgers shared his professional background, which he began as a student studying accounting in southern California while working as an Emergency Medical professional.  He worked in public accounting for a few years while teaching at a Community College. Currently, Jason is working for a private equities firm and is a real estate agent.
     
    SPEAKER INTRO:  Jack introduced speaker Kris Manfrina, a Senior Regional Vice President for Nationwide Annuities in the San Francisco Bay area. His provides a consultative approach in topics such as maximization of Social Security benefits, understanding of Medicare, retirement income planning and legacy planning strategies.
                Kris shared the average cost of healthcare in retirement is $300,000, 23% on drug costs, 32% medicare premiums and 45% copays or supplemental insurance. The choosing of medicare benefits can be complicated and Kris recommends visiting https://www.aging.ca.gov/hicap/Contact_HICAP/.
