Meeting Notes

President’s Greeting by Heather:  Good Afternoon and welcome to the Rotary Club of Mountain View where: We’re More Than A Club…We’re a Family!!! 

Our International call to action for 2021-2022 is “Serve to Change Lives.”  Our Club’s call to action is “As a Family We Serve to Change Lives.”  Thank you all for joining us today; it’s so great to see smiles in person.

 
Toast:  President Heather welcomed everyone back to our in person meetings with a toast of bubbly for everyone’s continuing good health.
 
Pledge of Allegiance:  We began the meeting with our Pledge of Allegiance
 
Greeter & Thought for the Day: Bruce shared some thoughts about the joy of seeing everyone in person again and thanked everyone for all the positive things the Club has done in the last year and a half.
 
Song of the Day:  Songmaster Phil and his daughter Jody led us in singing “God Bless America.”
 
Introduction of Visitors:  Sanjay introduced several visitors to the Club today
            Jody Krazeise visiting with her Dad, Phil
            Bill Price visiting from Pittsburg, PA
            Joining us remotely was our Assistant Governor, Soona Ramesh
And joining us remotely from Bangalore, India, was our former member, Nilesh Kapse, who sent his greetings.  Nilesh was recently installed as his Club’s International Service Chair and hopes to work with us on some international projects.
 
Share a special greeting: Club members enjoyed mingling and catching up in the Adobe Building garden prior to the meeting.
 
Personal Sharing/Happy Bucks: 
Alan once again distinguished himself by being the first member of Heather’s President’s Club.
Heather told us that she was planning to have lunch with Ernie at his new his new living facility tomorrow.
Twana shared that she recently retired from Community Services Agency and is planning some trips as well as just enjoying some leisure time.
Jerylann announced that her daughter recently had twins.
           
General Club Announcements:
Thank you to Anita and Cathy for their help organizing the Rotating Kick Out Event and to Paul, Sanjay, Walt and Bruce or hosting at their homes.
Camp RYLA had a very successful event with several participants sponsored by our Club.
 
District Announcements:
District Roast and Toast at Gilroy Gardens is Saturday, July 17th
Avenues of Service, hybrid style is Saturday, October 2nd
The District goals this year are: 1) 100% Foundation participation, 2) Public relations, 3) Increase membership
 
SPEAKER - Club Assembly:
 
President Heather introduced this year’s Board Members and Committee Chairs
 
President Elect Sanjay shared that we have speakers lined up for our meetings through August and we need members to sign up to gather speakers starting in September.  Our speaker for next week’s meeting is Robert Freeman who is championing educational opportunities for all worldwide.  Sanjay said that our Holiday Party will be on the second or third weekend in December.
 
Past President Paul informed us that the first social of the year will be in two weeks on July 27th at Cascal’s.  Paul then presented Heather with the ceremonial Club Presidential Medallion.
 
Secretary Bruce let folks know that out 4fer assignment will be returning which includes being the Greeter, giving a thought for the day, bringing a simple dessert or treat, and taking the meeting notes.  The list for the year with the 4fer meeting assignments will be coming out shortly.
 
Treasurer Fred said the Club is currently very financially solvent.  He told us that the Club made a very generous donation to the Community Services Agency to help out during the pandemic.  He also told us that the Club has collected $4,000 for Dave Cole’s Memorial and folks can still contribute by writing a check to the Mountain View Rotary Endowment fund.
 
Our Foundation Chair is Mandy and our goal is 100% participation.
 
Membership Chair Jerylann said our goal is to add three new members this year and we have some potential members in the works already.
 
The Youth Service Chair is currently open.  Please contact Heather if you are interested in helping with that.
 
We are also looking for a Public Relations Chair.
 
Our Community Service Chair is Tori.
 
Our International Service Chair is Jack.
 
Our Community Grants Chair is Anita.  We are looking for someone to work with Anita this year to possibly take over this role in future years.
 
Our Endowment Chair is Ken.  We are still looking for one more member to serve on the Endowment Board.
 
Mark your Calendars: Our next Meeting is Tuesday, July 20th, at 12:15 pm at the Adobe Building and then an evening social on July 27th at Cascal’s.
