President’s Greeting:  
 
Good afternoon!   I’d like to welcome you to the Rotary Club of Mountain View.
My name is Bert Raphael, your President for the first and second half of 2018-2019. 
 
Our Rotary International theme for this year is “Be the Inspiration”. 
Our Mountain View Rotary Club theme is “Have Fun Being the Inspiration.”

Introduction of Visiting Rotarians & Guests:  Paul – We had a visitors to the club Jim who is a friend of Jerylann.
 
Club Assembly
 
Bert:
  • Thanks to Jim Cunningham for being the 4-fer today.
  • President’s announcements: Bert announced that our Songmaster Phil has a stroke on New Year’s Eve, but doing well in recovery and rehab
  • Global Grant Scholarships deadline is Feb. 3
  • We have sent our signed contract to the city to get Rotary signs Steven’s Creek Trail.
  • The focus areas for grants will be chosen by the President Elect and will be from the 6 areas of focus for Rotary
    • Promoting Peace
    • Fighting Disease
      • Providing clean water, sanitation and hygiene
    • Saving mothers and children
    • Supporting education
    • Growing local economies
  • Monique agreed to be the 4-fer for our February 5 meeting

Alan gave an update on the Crab Feed
  • Crab is looking good
  • He passed out a sign up sheet to volunteer during the crab feed.  This is an all hands on deck event.            
Community Service: Dave – CSMA volunteer opportunities are available. 
 
Vocational Talk: Jim Cunningham – Jim spoke about growing up in Wisconsin and following in his family’s tradition of becoming a dentist.
 
 
Speakers:
  •  Our Speakers were Ann Chasson and Mary Rubin who discussed their 501(c)(3) non-profit to adopt out adult cats - Dancing Cats.  They have a location in San Jose.  More information can be found at dancingcats.org
