Good afternoon! I’d like to welcome you to the Rotary Club of Mountain View.

Bert: Overview.
President’s announcements:
- Global Grant Scholarships deadline
- Mentor Tutor Connection meeting
- President’s Club – now has 12 members. Make that 14 - Ken and Jim S. joined today
- Birthdays: Tom, Jan. 4.
- Monthly speaker chair still needed for March.
Five Avenues of Service: Vocational, Club, Community, International, & New Generations
- Vocational Service: Personal talk by Dave Cole. Dave said he has been a Rotarian for 40 years. He owns Sterling Upholstery since 1968 and has 15 employees.
- Community Service: Dave Cole – CSMA has some volunteering opportunities coming up. Please review the signup sheet being passed around.
- International Service: Jack Wong – project in Nepal needs the Rotary club there to have financials prepared. They are looking for an accountant. We have $3052 in grant funds for 2018/19.
- Tory is out as she has broken her leg.
New Generations:
- Sanjay Dave— Speech Contest – February 5. We also are sponsoring 4 kids to RYLA.
- Alan Goodman: Interact – Alan is working with MVHS and St. Francis clubs.
- Walt Joyce: ELC will be at Asilomar in April. Our club will be sponsoring 3 – 4 kids for $1500. 50% of ELC kids are low income.
Other Committees & Programs:
- The Rotary Foundation: Monique Kane – Jim Cochran received has Paul Harris award.
- Crab Feed Fund Raiser: Alan Goodman – It’s a go for February 2. Crab availability and pricing is still TBD.
- Community Grants: Anita Grossman – This year our club will grant 3 -5 organizations higher grant amounts.
- Club Membership Growth Efforts: Judy Hannemann – still a focus.
- Club Endowment Fund: Jim Spangler
- Scholarship Awards: Ken Schwaderer
Treasurer Report: Fred Storek – club is in good shape financially.
Secretary Report: Paul Reinhart - still working with the city of MV to get a Rotary sign on Stevens’ Creek trail in exchange for a twice year clean up by our club.
Bert: Rotary shifting from Five Areas of Service, to Six Areas of Focus
- Promote peace
- Fight disease – including polio eradication
- Provide clean water, sanitation & hygiene
- `Saving mothers and children – including stopping HIV transmission
- Supporting education
- Growing local economies
Officers, Bylaws, and Plans for Rotary Year 2019-2020: Tom Myers – President Elect Tom is re-writing the club by-laws and will present changes to the Board along with potential Board members for 2019/20.
