Rotary Club of Mountain View
Meeting Notes - January 7, 2020

President Tom greeting everyone:  “Good afternoon!   I’d like to welcome you to the Rotary Club of Mountain View.  Our Rotary International theme for this year is “Rotary Connects the World”.  Our Mountain View Rotary Club theme is “We Connect Our Community. Thank you all for joining us today.”

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Heather; Scott shared a New Year thought; and Phil led all in a song.

Paul, President Elect, introduced visitors.    Mandy introduced Emily as her guest.

Fred gave his vocational talk.   This included his entry to Stanford where he was a track athlete, graduated, and started a job in bookkeeping.   He has followed this career track since… working in small CPA firms, handling all varieties of accounting.   He claims to be the only CPA who actually at one time was a “bean counter,” pinto beans to be exact.   He is surely right on that and we are proud of our Rotary friend, past President and long time board member Fred!

Jerylann and Tom inducted our new Rotarian:  Mandy Andrei.   Mandy has been actively participating in our Club for a time and clearly exemplifies all Rotary ideals and Rotary’s spirit of service.   She has a distinguished career in wealth management.   We welcome Mandy into our Club!

Tom made announcements:
            * Special Dinner for MAT Caparas – Did anyone attend?
            * Special Thanks – Jim Cochran has resigned and we thank him for his service.
            * There will be a regular club meeting on Tuesday, 1/28.   It will be a club assembly and also a time for Alan to do final coordination for the Crab Feed.

Monique made some Rotary Foundation recognitions.   Cupcakes were given to Alan, Jim Spangler, and to Sanjay.   Jim Spangler was also recognized for Paul Harris Fellow – plus 3.

Alan discussed plans for the February 1st Crab Feed.    “This is an ALL HANDS ON DECK event for the club” he said.   Tickets and flyers/posters were distributed.   A sign-up sheet was circulated for volunteer assignments that day.  More to come!
