SPEAKER INTRO & PRESENTATION:   Twana introduced Jim Mealey, who gave a presentation on “End Polio Now” … Rotary’s project since 1986 to eradicate polio from the world.  Jim commented that “believe it or not, there are parents in the world who won’t allow their children to be immunized.”  There are three countries worldwide left where polio is not eradicated:  Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Nigeria.  Worldwide polio cases have been decreasing the past few years:  416 cases in 2013; 359 cases in 2014; and so far in 2015 there have been 22 cases.   So, real progress being made.  Mothers’ Day cards, mentioning Rotary’s Polio Plus program, will be sold again this year for $10 each.   More info to follow.  After the presentation, President Alan announced that “as a token of our appreciation, we will be making a donation in your name to our local RotaCare Clinic.”

President Alan announced Twana as the “4-fer” next week.   He then adjourned the meeting.
