President Twana’s Greeting:  
Good Afternoon & welcome to the Rotary Club of Mtn. View where: We’re More Than A Club…We’re a Family!!! 
Today is our day to celebrate! (Cue background music - “Celebration” by Kool and the Gang). 
 
Our International call to action for 2015-2016 is to “Be a Gift to the World
Our club’s call to action this year is “Being the Best We Can Be.”  Thank you all for joining us today.

General Club Announcements:
 
  • Thanks to so many people for today’s celebration, among them the following: Heather, Sheila, Paul, Alan, Jose and Jerylann.
  • Scott: Community Service for April: Steven’s Creek Trail Cleanup on Sat., April 16 from 9 am to 12pm meeting at Whisman Park, 310 Easy Street. Sign-up sheet.
  • Bruce: Rotating Dinner is set for Saturday, May 7th. Save the Date.
  • Sanjay: New Volunteer Opportunity with Hope’s Corner delivering food on Saturday mornings.  We still need some more volunteers.
  • Twana: Sign-up sheet going around for an extra community service work opportunity in April to help Hope’s Corner place a new floor. This is not part of our monthly community project but is an extra one. Sign up to help on April 22, 23 or 24th.
  • Twana/Walt: Golf Tournament: June 10that Shoreline. Save the date and more details to come.
  • Twana/AlanKick Out Dinner:  Save the date, Friday, June 24th
 
  • Twana shared a slide “11 Reasons to Celebrate” which included the following Club accomplishments: 1) RYLA – sent 6 students to camp; 2) wheelchair drive – chairs for 9 children, 3) CSA toy drive – gifts for 19 children, 4) (virtual) Crab Feed donations - $15,150 to distribute to local nonprofits, 5) Polio Plus Drive - $2,046/$6,128 with matching funds from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, 6) Rotary International Foundation - $9,000 and counting, 7) scholarships – 7 students for a total of $7,500, 8) growing the Endowment, 9) Enterprise Leadership Conference – sent 4 student to participate in this leadership development program, 10) community service events – at least 9 and counting, 11) breakfast for those in need at Hope’s Corner - $1,000. A 12th accomplishment was added – “Taylor’s Trailer” at United Methodist.
 
 
Twana thanked everyone and noted that “We are a mighty Club for our size!”

Alan called for approval of the slate “before they change their mind.” The motion carried. Congrats to all!
 
  1. New Member Talk – Helen Meeks: Helen grew up in Sunnyvale and went to elementary and high school with Tori. She moved to Oklahoma where she raised her family. Tori offered her a job and after much consideration, “I’m back!” She enjoys bicycling, the beach and her family.
  1. Paul Reinhart gave an overview of the highlights of this year’s Enterprise Youth Leadership Conference; he and his wife participated as Rotary Team Advisors.
 
  1. Anita presented this year’s community service grant awards and led an initial discussion about the possibility of changing the grant making process over the next few years so that our grants can have more impact. This issue will be taken to the Board and brought back to the Club membership for additional discussion.
