Presidents Greeting: Bert welcomed all.   He mentioned the theme for the year—Have Fun Being the Inspiration
Thanked all for attending
 
Thought for day: Monique on being responsible citizens by voting in elections
 
Phil led in God Bless America
 
Intro of visiting Rotarians & guest-Tom
 
Bert thanked Monique for being the ‘4fer’
 
Bert reminded all of the upcoming Avenues of Service
 
Scott introduced the program
 
Tom served as moderator
 
The candidates for election or re-election to the Mtn View City Council were all in attendance:
 
Allison Hicks, Ellen Kamei, John Inks, Lenny Siegel, Lucas Ramirez, Pat Showalter
 
They each gave an opening statement and responded to questions.
 
The running themes that seemed of most concern:
 
*Housing much too expensive for many middle class working persons and for lower income persons
 
* City in good place financially
 
*Need to work with developers and companies to help find a balance on building for business and housing
 
*City seriously looking into developing the North side- Terra Bella area for example
 
*Need to develop better transportation solutions
 
* Persons living in RVs are mostly working and cannot afford housing anymore—need for finding a better balance to meet the needs of workers-go back to a diverse city made up of all not just the wealthy. Need a safe place to park RVS
 
*The homeless/mental health issues/needs and how to prevent homelessness
 
* Goal to reduce traffic improve other forms of transportation.  Not meeting emission goals
 
*Residents need timely access to information
 
* Equity-job housing balance
 
*Citizens missing neighborhood stores, book stores - can’t walk to places
 
*Parks need care and growth
 
* Need for tenant relocation  funds
