President’s Greeting:  
Good afternoon!   I’d like to welcome you to the Rotary Club of Mtn. My name is Scott Johnson, your President for 2017-2018
Our Rotary International theme for this year is “Rotary: Making a Difference.”   Our District Governor Orrin Mahoney’s theme is “Developing Lifelong Friendships, While Making a Difference.”  Our Mountain View Rotary Club is “Having Fun Making a Difference.”

New Member Induction:  Linda Wang …. By Tori (Sponsor) & Jerylann (Membership)
Scott shared that Linda Wang was born in a small village in northeast China. She shares Rotary values and is a great match for the club. She received her education while having two babies and went into real estate in 2013. Linda mentioned that she loves her work and her goal is to help as many people as possible.

  • Cops & Gobblers … Bruce – Nov. 19 at the Police Station. Starts a little before 9am.
  • Club Service Announcements?  -- Twana and Tori: Next holiday social at Anita’s home on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at 5:30 pm, the week after Thanksgiving. Signups next week.
  • Condiment Collection Drive in Sunnyvale - Jack Wong. See flyer, can drop off at meeting or Jack’s office until November 10th.
  • Auction.   Tori will be auctioning off her Santa Fe house.  (4K sf, 4 bedrooms, 4 baths … 12 people). The rental will be for 5 nights and the date of the rental is flexible.
 
 
 
  • President’s Club:   Thanks to all!   We are presently up to 21 members for a total of $3,150.

Speaker:   Judy Chow is the Director of Product Management in the Business unit at Symantec Corporation.  She will address the topic of digital security.
           
  • Introduction by Sanjay. Judy Chow gave a very interesting presentation cybersecurity and understanding the threats. The goal is for more people to be aware and to know practical things that they can do to prevent being a victim. She mentioned that identity theft is the fastest growing crime in the United States. With many questions and high interest, Judy promised to send a copy of her slides to the club.
