President’s Greeting:  
 
Good afternoon!   I’d like to welcome you to the Rotary Club of Mountain View. My name is Bert Raphael, your President for 2018-2019. 
 
Our Rotary International theme for this year is “Be the Inspiration”.  Our Mountain View Rotary Club theme is “Have Fun Being the Inspiration.”

Introduction of Visiting Rotarians & Guests:  Tom-  Jason Commerford joined us again today- his second visit.

Mountain View City Manager Daniel Rich
Mr. Rich is a Cal graduate so watch out all you Stanford fans.  ;>)
 
He updated us on the 4 major goals the city has for 2018/2019
  1. Promote strategies to protect vulnerable populations and maintain a diverse population.
  2. Housing
  3. Transportation
  4. Environmental Sustainability
 
Housing
  • North Bayshore – 10,000 units (40% micro units, 20 – 30% 1 bedrooms, 20 – 30% 2 – 3 bedrooms.
    • 1 project currently approved for 600 units
  • East Whisman – 5,000 homes
 
City Projects
 
  • Community Center re-model
  • Rengstorff aquatics center replacement
  • Latham and Shoreline community garden
  • Reversible bus lane on Shoreline (Middlefield to Pear)
 
 
Future Schedule:
 
Nov. 20:  Paul Martin, on cyber security.
. Dr. Paul Martin is a Research Scientist at Harbor Labs based in Maryland. He has taught applied cryptography, reverse engineering, computer architecture, hardware hacking, and vulnerability analysis at the university level. His research interests include embedded systems security, operating system security, vulnerability analysis, reverse engineering, network protocol analysis, anomaly detection and big-data security analytics.
 
Next club Leadership Meeting:  November 28, 5:30 p.m., @ CSA 
 
Dec. 4: Sue Brooke, a highly regarded motivational and team building speaker.
