Club Announcements:
  • Dave Cole– Updates on Community Service Projects. Steven’s Creek Trail Clean-up was on April 15th (photos below). Please sign up. Living Classroom, planting at Crittenden on May 13. 
  • There will be a Rotating Dinner this year on May 19 which Anita will be organizing.  
  • Next Board Meeting is Thursday 4/20, 5 pm at CHAC
  • District Conference scheduled for May 6-7 in Santa Cruz. A good group will be attending from MV Rotary.  Twana and Bruce K. will host a reception in their room before dinner (BYOB).
  • Presidents’ Club:  We will not be doing fines again this year and I would like to encourage our membership to join the Presidents Club.  27 have already signed up.
  • Twana – started the signup sheet for monthly Speaker Chairs for next year.  She sweetened the pot by offering to buy lunch for anyone who signs up.
  • Annual golf and BBQ will be on June 9th
 
Auction:
- In May we will auction off Jerylann’s Incline Village Lake Tahoe Timeshare weeks…you may take your choice for the week of 8/20-8/27 or 11/25-12/2. Beautiful 2 bedroom, 2 bath units with a loft, sleeps 6-8 comforably. So start looking at your calendars now!
- As you all know we are doing these auctions to raise funds for our Endowment Fund, so please see me if you have anything to donate. So far we have raised over $1600 so far!
 
 
SPEAKER:  Jack Wong introduced our speaker, Paul Reinhart who spoke about his camping trip to South Africa and Botswana last September.  Susan and Paul, along with their friends from Amsterdam drove 1600 miles over 14 days while getting their 4 WD truck stuck a number of times in the not so friendliest of spots in the game preserves. 
 
 

At the start of the meeting, President Jerylann greeted all:  “Welcome to the Rotary Club of Mtn. View where: We are a Fun, Enthusiastic & Inspiring Rotary Family…we are the BEST Rotary Club around!!!  Today is Tuesday April 11th, week 41 of our Rotary year.  Our International theme for 2016-2017 is Rotary Serving Humanity.  Our District Governor’s call to action is Attract the Young, Have Lots of Fun, Get More Done! And our Clubs call to action is: Make the World A Better Place!  Thank you all for joining us today.”

Scott led the Pledge of Allegiance.  Song Master Phil led us all in singing “Let me call you Sweetheart”

 
Next Week:
Next week will be dark but there will be a club social at 5:30 at Cascal’s on Castro.
 
May 2nd will be our presentation of scholarships to deserving students.
 
Our 4-fer will be Jim Cochran
 
Jerylann reminded all to “Make the World A Better Place!”  … and the meeting was adjourned.
