Jessica Nowaski, MV Police Department

In 1995, Jessica started her law enforcement career with the Mountain View Police department.  She has served in both the Field Operations and Investigative Services Divisions at MVPD.  As a detective, she originally worked property crimes.  Jessica then developed a domestic violence detective position for the police department.  Jessica took a short hiatus to the Santa Rosa Police department but quickly realized her home was Mountain View.  Upon her return she quickly earned another assignment in investigations where she worked primarily as a Child Abuse and Sexual Assault detective. She was the Lead Investigator on several major, high profile cases, and was commended for her work on cases involving home invasions, robbery, homicide, hate crimes and gang crimes.  During her career, Jessica has held collateral assignments as Crisis Negotiator, Bicycle Officer, Peer Counselor, Recruiter and Critical Incident Debriefer.  Jessica was promoted to Agent in 2007 where she worked closely with the department’s Field Training Program and revised the entire Field Training Manual for use in training all new officers.  Jessica quickly promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2008 where she was assigned to the weekend graveyard patrol team.  During this time she took the opportunity to update the officer’s patrol procedure manual.  She was later assigned to the Professional Standards Unit until she promoted to Lieutenant in 2011.  As a patrol Lieutenant Jessica worked as the weekday watch commander and was the Crisis Negotiation Unit commander.  In September 2012, Jessica was assigned to the Santa Clara County Regional Auto Theft Task Force where she served as the commander for a year.  In March 2014 Jessica promoted to the rank of captain.  She commanded the Investigation Services Division until her current assignment as the captain for the Field Operations Division.  Jessica is the incident commander for SWAT and CNT. Jessica holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Sonoma State University and a Master of Arts degree in Leadership from St. Mary’s College of California.  Jessica is married and a mother of two.
