On Thursday, August 30th, Lois A. Currie, sponsored by Joyce Van Haeren, and Phyllis Lair, sponsored by Phil Lucas, were inducted into Rotary by Michael Colasurdo, Sr.
 
Lois is a licensed Clinical Social Worker, currImageently working at Hudson County Schools of Technology. Her career spans over 30 years and she has held positions as a teacher, a  guidance counselor, a social worker and a Student Assistance Coordinator. She served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Hudson County Council for The Handicapped for 10 years. As a PTA member, Lois worked on many committees when her three children were in school. Lois had attended a number of Brick Rotary events including the 2012 Conference Cruise to Bermuda. The fellowship, camaraderie and level of service projects impressed Lois who was most receptive when invited to join the club. She is already an active member involved with the club projects and is looking forward to doing more community service. Lois spent most of her adult life in Nutley, NJ and all of her vacation time in Brick. She made Brick her primary residence about five years ago. Lois likes being near the water and enjoys boating and traveling.

Phyllis Lair, owner of Cavalier Hair Stylist in Point Pleasant Beach, is the second generation in the beauty business carrying on her family's name. Phyllis comes from a long line of hairdressers, her mother and three of her aunts were hairdressers since 1933. Phyllis' daily quote is always "Determination is the key to success". She has been living by those words since starting her business in 1981 and, apparently it's worked for her. In 2013 she will be celebrating thirty-three years in business. Phyllis says, "I'm proud and honored by what I do". Phyllis married her childhood sweetheart, Harry J. Lair, Jr. She was widowed in 2005 after 42 years of marriage and says that his strength and determination stays with her on a daily basis. They were blessed with three children, Keith, Kristine and Cecelia. Phyllis has nine grandchildren as a result of their union, five boys and four girls, whom she loves with all her heart.
