Patrick, the Dad
He wears a size 35x32 pants and a size large shirt but he said he is okay on those. I could not
get any other gift suggestions.
When I asked if everyone had beds I found that Terrance has a mattress on a bed frame but no

box spring. However, this did not seem to be a pressing need.

LOVE INC CHRISTMAS ADOPT A FAMILY

FAMILY – 6

This young family includes a single mom with two son’s ages 8 and 3. They moved from

Michigan to Fairbanks last February. It has been hard for them to get established and mom is
still unemployed. Any Christmas Joy you could share with them would be a blessing.

HOUSEHOLD EXPENSE

 Groceries or a gift certificate for groceries would help this family.

 A gift certificate from GVEA would also be a big help.

 Any clothing gift would be a practical and helpful gift.

Kadence, the 8 year old son

He wears a size 10 and he needs clothing. He needs a winter jacket, hat & gloves. He prefers

straight leg jeans and short sleeve t-shirts. He could use socks too. Any clothing would be
helpful but he especially needs a winter coat. (He is borrowing one now.)
Mom described him as a bookworm who enjoys the outdoors. He is a Beatle fan. Mom said
anything Beatle would please him; a poster, book, or of course their music. They have a
PlayStation III so a new game or a gift certificate from Play Stop would be a good gift
suggestion. Since he enjoys the outdoors; a sled or an age appropriate snow board would be a
great gift alternative for him.

KeeShawn, the 3 year old son

He wears a size 5T and any type of clothing would be appreciated. He has a winter coat but

could us a pair of mittens and a winter hat.
He loves playing with trains. They had to leave his trains and toys in Michigan. He is also a
big Curious George fan; anything in that toy realm would be great. He likes cartoon videos.

Joelle, the Mother

wears size medium shirts and prefers long sleeve ones.
Art supplies for craft projects with the boys would be a great gift option. She enjoys bath
products but does not like the flowery scents. Coconut scent was suggested. She likes candles
with a fruity scent, not flowery.

Household Needs:

She needs household tools; hammer, screw driver (s) … and basic car tools.

She could use some kitchen towels and bath towels.

A casserole dish and a potato peeler are two kitchen tools she needs.
She has a kitchen table but only has one chair. More chairs would be great.

Other information:

THEY DO NOT HAVE A CHRISTMAS TREE, DECORATIONS, OR LIGHTS

LOVE INC CHRISTMAS ADOPT A FAMILY

FAMILY – 4

This is a multiple generation household with two parents, 2 children; ages 17, and 10; and a

grandmother. The Father was laid off for two months and just as he was about to go back to

work he broke his wrist and must wait for that to heal. The Mother works 20 hours a week in

the home health care field. Mother explained that they were used to the Father’s good

income and now it is difficult to make ends meet. Any Christmas Joy you could share with this

family would be a great help to their strained budget and a delight to their spirits.

HOUSEHOLD EXPENSE

 Groceries or a gift certificate for groceries would help this family.

 A gift certificate from GVEA would also be a big hep.

 A gift certificate for fuel oil would be a great financial help. (Above ground tank)

 Any clothing gift would be a practical and helpful gift.

Miranda, the 17 year old daughter

She is a senior and Mother described her as outgoing. She works part-time at a fast-food

restaurant on weekends. Mom suggested a clothing gift certificate from Torrid’s (in the Bentley

Mall) as a good gift suggestion. She needs socks. She likes hair ties and scrunchies but does

not like them to have metal in them. Mother was reluctant to tell me, but I found out that a

dream gift for Miranda would be a digital camera.

Robin, the 10 year old daughter

She wears size 10 in girl’s clothing and could use some socks.

She is very active and involved in school functions. Mother called her a “social butterfly.” She

would like a set of walkie-talkies. The board game Connect 4 would be another good gift

suggestion. She enjoys playing with Play-Doh. She likes costume jewelry. Books at the 4th

grade reading level would be great for her because she is struggling with reading.

Linda, the 69 year old grandmother

She wears a size 2x-3x and likes casual around the house type clothing. She is diabetic and she

likes to watch cooking shows. A diabetic cookbook would be a good gift suggestion. She uses

a roll-on deodorant; AVON Feeling Fresh, it only cost about a dollar but she has not found a

source (agent) to purchase this favorite deodorant. Mom said she has “hundreds” of cassettes

but does not have a cassette player. Mom said there is one at Fred Myers that plays cassettes

and CDs ($39.) that would be a perfect gift for Linda.

Terry, the Father

He could use some socks. His favorite brand of socks is Smart Wool – Mountaineer. He finds

these at Prospectors. He has a Gillette Mach 3 razor and could really use some replacement

blades for it. He loves Reese’s candy bars. A gift certificate from Lowes or Home Depo would

be another gift alternative.

Tina, the Mother

She needs a winter jacket, size XL – 2XL. I could not get any other gift suggestions from this

Mother. She told me she does most of her shopping at Value Village and Wal-Mart. She used

to make Christmas wreaths at this time of year to sell for extra money but this year she did not

have enough money to purchase supplies. Perhaps a gift certificate from a craft store would be

an alternative gift suggestion for her.

Household Needs:

Laundry Soap

Other information:

They have two dogs (Pugs) named Leroy & Missy, a cat named Angel, and a guinea pig named

Oliver. The dogs eat Fred Myer brand dog food- Atta Boy.

Delivery person will need a 4-wheel drive vehicle to get to their house

LOVE INC CHRISTMAS ADOPT A FAMILY

FAMILY – 5

This family consists of a single mom with two daughter’s ages 18 and 7. They are going

through a season of hardship due to loss of income and medical bills from the Mother’s spinal

surgery. Love INC is familiar with their situation because we provide rides so that the Mother

can continue her physical therapy. Any Christmas Joy you could share with this family would

be a blessing.

Alnise, the 18 year old daughter

She is a Tweedy Bird fan. Mother said you could get her anything with Tweedy bird on it and

she would love it. Mother said Alnise buys her own clothes and she didn’t know her sizes – so

she suggested a gift certificate from a “hip” store in the Bentley Mall. A dream gift for this

young lady would be a digital camera.

Nyla, the 7 year old daughter

There are a lot of gift options to choose from for this little gal. She would love a bicycle,

especially if it was pink or baby blue. A DVD player is another great gift option. She would

enjoy fantasy play with the Zhu-Zhu pets. She would especially love to have the Prince and

Princess Zhu-Zhu’s. Another toy that she would enjoy is the La La-Loopsy Hair Doll. They

have a Wii game set. Nyla would love a new dance game called; Michael Jackson Experience,

Dance II (or Dance III).

Denise, the Mother

She has been losing weigh since her surgery, so a gift certificate for clothing would be a good

gift option. She has been trying to develop healthy eating habits. A couple of gift options that

would help her would be a juicer or blender and /or a slice-a-matic or similar machine for

slicing vegetables.

Household Needs:

An electric can opener would be a helpful practical gift.

LOVE INC CHRISTMAS ADOPT A FAMILY

FAMILY – 8

In this family the parents are retired and the children are supporting the household. The

Father receives some social-security but it is not enough to live on. The Daughter is 22 and she

works as many hours as she can get as a housekeeper. The son is 18 and he works as a

carpenter. (As of 11/5) He is still working but they are worried he will be laid off soon. They

are getting by but occasionally they need help. Any Christmas Joy you could share with them

would be a blessing.

 Groceries or a gift certificate for groceries would help this family.

 A gift certificate from GVEA would also be a big help.

 A gift certificate from Alaska Aero Fuel would be a great help. (below ground tank)

 Any clothing gift would be a practical and helpful gift.

Nadine, the 22 year old daughter

She wears a size large. She could use a winter hat, scarf, and gloves. She suggested cranberry

color. She could use some socks (size 7 shoes). A gift certificate for private clothing would be

a great gift option. She enjoys reading. A gift certificate for a CD would be another gift

alternative.

Richard, the 18 year old son

He needs a winter coat, size large. Red & Black were suggested colors for the coat. He also

needs work gloves, size large.

Sophia, the Mother

She needs a winter coat with a hood, size XL. Black or purple were suggested colors. A scarf

and winter hat would also help. She needs boots, size 7 ½. A long sleeve pullover type shirt

(size XL) would be another good gift option. She likes colorful or flower designed shirts.

Paul, the Father

He could use some winter socks, he wears a size 13 ½ shoes. He could also use some sweat

pants size large. A winter work shirt would be great. Most of all he needs winter work gloves

for snow shoveling (XL). A new snow shovel would be the perfect gift because Paul earns

extra money by shoveling snow. In the morning he likes to listen to the radio, so a new radio

that they could set on the kitchen table would be another great gift option. He likes to read

western novels. A new air freshener for the car would be another helpful gift.

Household Needs:

 A full size blanket.

 A bath towel.

 A broom.

Other information:

When I asked if they had a tree and decorations, I found that they have and artificial Christmas

tree. However, I could tell Sophia was tickled by the possibility of new decorations.
