Rich Barber is a Professor of Physics at Santa Clara University where he has taught since 1995.  He earned his B.S. in Physics from Davidson College in 1984 and his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1990.  Prior to coming to SCU he had postdoctoral appointments in Condensed Matter Physics at UC San Diego and then in Physical Oceanography at the University of Delaware.  He has spent three decades studying superconductivity in disordered systems.  His current work is in two different research areas: organic solar cells and the characterization of insect silk.
