From the formulation of the Rotary Club of Santa Clara in the spring of 1936 and its first meeting May 28, 1936 with 15 members in attendance, the club has been one of the stronger forces in the field of Mission City community service.

Under the first club president, the late G.F. (Bake) Bacon, to the present term of the 78th president, Dr. Lou Ann Alexander, the Rotary Club of Santa Clara has long been honored as one of the top service clubs in Santa Clara County.

In addition to making major financial contributions to the welfare of their city, Santa Clara Rotarians have played a strong role in fostering the philosophy of Rotary International toward helping create a better life for underprivileged men and women throughout the world over.
