Christine Berdiansky and her collegue Gail Yee will speak about Santa Clara Adult education.

Santa Clara Adult Education (SCAE)  provides a wide range of high quality, low-cost education and training programs for the local adult community.  The Office Skills Training Program, part of the Career and Technology Program at SCAE, prepares participants to be office assistants, administrative assistants, and accounting clerks. Classes include Microsoft Office Suite, Accounting, Communicating in the Workplace, Teambuilding and Problem Solving, and Office Procedures.  The program offers instruction in both hard and soft skills, so participants are prepared for today's job market.

In an effort to increase the employability of the participants, the program is now recruiting for internship sites to place individuals who have completed all of the coursework .  The presenters will discuss the internship program and how to become involved.

Christine Berdiansky, Program Supervisor, has a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and an Administrative Credential, and has spent her career in adult education.  She has been a supervisor at Santa Clara Adult Education for seventeen years, working in many of the programs offered by the school, and has served in elected position in the California Council on Adult Education.

Gail Yee has been an instructor at Santa Clara Adult Education (SCAE) in the Office Skills and Technology Program since 2007. She teaches numerous soft skills classes such as Project Management Fundamentals, Office Skills for the Workplace, Communicating in the Workplace, and Teambuilding and Problem Solving in the Workplace. She articulated these classes with Mission College, which allows her students to earn three credits for each class they successfully complete should they choose to continue their education there. This articulation program has been very successful with many of her students having gone on to enroll in Mission College. Ms. Yee is also the counselor for the Office Skills and Technology Training Program at SCAE where she helps students understand what the program offers and works with them to prepare a course of study to meet their goals.
