A message from President Lou Ann Alexander, June 29, 2014
Fellow Rotarians,
Wow! Our Silicon Valley BBQ Championship was a tremendous success, and we are the talk of the town. If you didn’t see the write up and pictures of our event in the San Jose Mercury News this morning, I have put the link at the end of my message so you can check it out. I can’t even begin to express my appreciation to all of you who worked countless hours on this event, all the way from the planning, sponsorships, and advertising, to the flat out hard work during the event. To organize and execute a fundraiser of this caliber is truly an amazing feat and one that we can all be very proud of as Santa Clara Rotarians. Special thanks to our BBQ 5: Joe Sweeney, Frank Walsh, Gerry Kosko, Nick Streit, and Stewart Cusimano who are the brains and heart and soul of this event. Without a doubt, this weekend we proved that we truly are the Greatest Rotary Club in the World!
On July 1st, my term as club president comes to an end. Serving as your club president, and the first woman president in our club’s 78 year history, has been a great honor. I have tremendous love and admiration for each and every one of you, and I am forever grateful for your love and support over this year. For every endeavor this year, you went above and beyond, and we were able to accomplish amazing things. The strength of our club lies in the talent and dedication of each one of you, and it has been a true privilege to work alongside you all this year. Our club has something magical about it, and I am so deeply grateful to part of it.
We will not be meeting on July 3rd due to the 4th of July holiday. Our next meeting will be my debunking led by Stewart Cusimano on July 10th, and then we will welcome Steve Rainbolt as president for his first full meeting on July 17th. I know that we have great things coming with Steve at the helm as president!
