Five Facts on the New Almaden Quicksilver mines, truth or hyperbole?
Michael Cox is a founding member of the New Almaden Quicksilver County Park Association. Michael is obsessed with New Almaden and mercury mining. In the 1970s he sought out and learned from many “old timers” involved in mercury mining in the last days of the industry. Michael’s career in geology and corporate governance and ethics gives him a unique perspective on what was formerly among California’s most significant and politically influential industries. Michael holds a BSc in geology from Cal-State East Bay and an MSc in international supply-chain management from the University of San Diego. He has worked as an independent consultant and in program leadership for Fortune-100 companies. Michael is currently the general manager of a small family-owned real estate investment company and in his spare time is assisting a team of renown mineralogists with the discovery of new mercury minerals.
