The DREAMTeam, Dallas Rotarians Enabling Achievement Mentoring Scholars, began in 2004 by The Rotary Club of Dallas members who wanted to improve the chances of a college education for students of need, preferably those who would be the first in their families to attend the tertiary level of education.
The mission of the DREAM Team is to provide scholarships to students with financial need, high motivation and high scholastic ability and performance. The students would be expected to graduate from college and continue to be outstanding examples to others in the community. Additionally, there is hope for the graduating student to become a Rotarian and a leader in the community. Since the inception of the program, almost all of the mentees have graduated from college, some going on to graduate degrees; all have begun purposeful careers, e.g., in teaching, business, social services.
In 2015, a RCD member began a drive to establish a fund, DREAMS for Scholars, in the Dallas Rotary Club Foundation to finance additional annual scholarships.
