On April 29, 2015, Jessie Davis, Office Manager from the Strand Theatre, presented a most interesting talk on her swim from Lincolnville to Islesboro in support of LifeFlight of Maine.

The Islesboro Crossing is an annual open water swimming fundraiser for LifeFlight of Maine. 3.1 miles across the Lincolnville to Islesboro held annually in late August.

In 2013, its first year, the Islesboro Crossing welcomed 30+  participants and raised $19,500. In 2014, 50+ swimmers participated and  the crossing raised $120,000. Saturday, August 29th, 2015
at 7a.m. they  will be doing it again. LifeFlight is currently comprised of two twin  engine Agusta 109E helicopters, capable of traveling 165mph, stationed  in Bangor and Lewiston. They transport and treat1500+
patients/year --  80% hospital to trauma center and 20% on scene calls. Since its inception in 1998 LifeFlight has transported 18,000+ patients. Inspired by LifeFlight and the incredible effort it takes to provide emergency medical care to rural and remote parts of Maine, Rockland resident  Jessie Davis decided to swim to Islesboro to raise money for  LifeFlight. After discussing the details of her endeavor with the folks at the LifeFlight
Foundation, they decided to broaden the event and  invite additional swimmers to participate. Thus, the Islesboro Crossing  was born. Swim to help LifeFlight fulfill their promise to be there for  all Mainers in their time
of need. "I want to make sure LifeFlight's services are available to my family, friends, neighbors, and community  when they need it - so that somebody's worst day doesn't have to be  their last." The need for
LifeFlight's services is so great that they are currently raising money to purchase and outfit a third helicopter  and a fixed winged aircraft. To participate as a swimmer, kayaker,  volunteer or to donate to the 2015
Islesboro Crossing please visit  www.lifeflightmaine.org  or call 207-230-7092
