Attendance today was 19 of 24, or 79 percent.

Guests in attendance today included: 1) Our Speaker, Lt. Micah Lunt, 2) Rex Huang, 3) Celeste Huang

Our Speaker today was Lt. Mica Lunt, with the Plano Police Department.  Lieutenant Lunt spoke to the club regarding workplace violence and mass shooting incidents.  He began the discussion by reviewing the Department of Homeland Security's "Pathway to Violence".  Lt. Lunt emphasized that if we suspect an individual is prone to workplace violence, we should alert a supervisor or law enforcement authority.  He also spoke regarding a national effort to reduce the publicity given to perpetrators of violence that is termed the "No Notoriety" campaign.  Lt. Lunt strongly encouraged employers to train employees on procedures for reporting workplace violence and procedures for notifying employees of an active incident.  He also suggested that employers do more than familiarize their employees with the Active Shooter response of Run-Hide-Fight; he stated that employers must train on each specific aspect of the response and not just memorize the mnemonic.  Lt. Lunt recommended that employers prepare a "Go Bag" that is prepared and ready to deliver to law enforcement to assist in their response to a workplace violence incident (containing maps, cards, keys, etc.)

The motto of Rotary is "Service Above Self." We all know from experience how much more we can accomplish together than alone. Along those lines, it is imperative that we actively promote our club and invite friends and coworkers to join.
