MEETING  SEPTEMBER 25, 2020
ATTENDEES:  18 of 26, 69% of membership

President Rick Chron called the meeting to order.   Our speakers today were Michelle and Janice with LovePacs-Plano.  LovePacs provides non-perishable food items to Children on the free or reduced price lunch program throughout area schools.  Meals are provided to students when school is out of session (extended school breaks).  LovePacs works directly with school counselors to identify those students in need.  The organization was founded in 2011.  The initial scope of the operation was small, but has grown substantially with time.  LovePacs serves communities throughout the state, with the Plano based operation serving 16,000 students in PISD.  In the 2019-2020 school year, LovePacs served 710,000 meals.  There are four methods to help the organization: 1) Volunteer time (sort, count, shelve inventory), 2) Donate food, 3) Donate money, 4) "Adopt-a-Box".  Three major needs right now are Applesauce, Chunky soup, and Jelly.  A complete list of needs may be found at the LovePacs web site:  www.facebook.com/LovePacs

“Anyone can go through the motions. We can wave our lamps wildly, but it doesn’t matter if they aren’t lit.” - Sharon Lewis
The motto of Rotary is "Service Above Self." We all know from experience how much more we can accomplish together than alone. Along those lines, it is imperative that we actively promote our club and invite friends and coworkers to join.

Have a great week, everybody, and don't forget to ask your friends and coworkers to come to have breakfast with us next Friday!
