Attendance today was 17 of 24, or 71 percent.

There were no guests present today.  In lieu of a formal speaker, we heard Mike Missildine present his Classification Talk.  Mike's formal classification is Justice of the Peace.  Mike serves as Justice of the Peace, Precinct 3-2.  Mike was born in West Virginia and grew up in Amarillo.  He began his career working as a Jailer for Potter County in 1995.  Mike worked briefly for the Border Patrol in the Laredo area (Hebronville) and moved to the Dallas area in 2000.  In 2013, Mike was appointed Chief Deputy Constable.  Mike was elected Justice of the Peace for Collin County Precinct 3-2 last November.  He reviewed with the club the many responsibilities of his job.  Mike is currently working on his Doctor of Philosophy in General Psychology from Grand Canyon University.  He expects to complete this program in 2020.  He also shared that significant changes are coming to his office.  The County Commissioners are consolidating courts, which will significantly increase the case load and responsibilities of Mike's area.  As far as hobbies, Mike is interested in guns (shocking).  Mike is married and his wife works as a Veterinarian.  Mike has three sons that range in age from 16, into their 20s.  We are fortunate to have someone with Mike's experience and heart for community service as a member of the club.

Announcements

1)  Next week, we will meet at Norma's at the regular time, conduct a short meeting (eat breakfast), and then move smartly over to the Plano Flags of Honor site to assist with Flag set-up.  Plan for 2 to 4 hours of flag set up.  We will be appreciative of any help that members can provide in setting up the flags.
2)  November is Rotary Foundation Month.  The club is four members shy of being a 100% Paul Harris Club.
3)  We have six members that have outstanding dues.  Please make arrangements to pay your dues as soon as possible.
4)  Richard Biggers has sent out a brief survey regarding service projects.  Please return the survey to Richard, ideally before the next Board Meeting . . . . .
5)  The next Board Meeting will be a lunchtime ordeal, probably sometime next week.  Stay tuned for forthcoming details from President Neal.
6)  At some point in the not-so-distant future, Shep has suggested we do a group photo of the club.  We can all try to fit into the chartreuse colored small/medium size work shirts from the Plano Love Your Neighbor Program,

“Anyone can go through the motions. We can wave our lamps wildly, but it doesn’t matter if they aren’t lit.” - Sharon Lewis
The motto of Rotary is "Service Above Self." We all know from experience how much more we can accomplish together than alone. Along those lines, it is imperative that we actively promote our club and invite friends and coworkers to join.

Have a great week, everybody, and don't forget to ask your friends and coworkers to come to have breakfast with us next Friday!
