MEETING MARCH 12, 2021
ATTENDEES:  17 of 24, 71% of membership

President Rick Chron called the meeting to order.   Our Speaker today was Lori Geer, with the Children's Advocacy Center of Collin County. Lori provided an overview of operations and activities of the CAC.  The Center was founded locally in 1992 and moved to its current location in 2000.  The current location is a 55,000 s.f. facility that houses 250 professionals under one roof.  Services provided at the center include: 1) Forensic Interviews, 2) Family Advocacy, 3) Counseling Services, and 4) Education.  The Advocacy Center is rated 4-Stars on Charity Navigator.  The majority of staff have been employed by the center for 15 years or longer.  As far as Covid, the center experienced a 35% reduction in referrals when schools closed last year.  However, incidents of suicidal behavior are up 45 percent locally.  The web site for the center is extremely helpful (www.caccollincounty.org) and provides great detail on ways that an individual or group may donate time and/or money to assist.  Lori highlighted the upcoming Gala, scheduled to be conducted virtually on April 10, 2021 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM.  The Headliner will be Harry Connick Jr.
