Our speaker today was none other than Neal Norton, our Club President and Financial Advisor with Edward Jones Investments.  Neal provided a synopsis of the Investing World looking into the new calendar year.  He provide a summary of major points of consideration for the new year.  Foremost, the current consensus is that there will not be a recession in 2020.  Consumer spending remains high, while Labor Markets are healthy.  There are no "Bubbles" on the immediate horizon (real estate bubble, tech bubble, etc.).  In general, investment gains will be smaller this year, when compared to 2019.  World trade is increasing, as offshore manufacturing rebounds.  In terms of threats, amidst all of this good news, budget deficits remain paramount.  The debt to GDP ratio is high and getting higher.  To maintain sanity among the news and volatility of the day, Neal suggested this: 1) Leave your stuff alone, 2) Have a Financial Plan, 3) Rebalance occasionally, and 4) Practice good financial behavior.  Words to live by, and not just in the Financial Realm.  Thank you Neal for this timely and informative presentation.

Congratulations Timothy and welcome to the Plano Sunrise Rotary Club.

3)  The next "Love Where you Live" service project will be May 2, 2020.  Shep is asking for a club member to coordinate this effort.  Shep stresses that he will be happy to serve as a "strong second" to assist with the event, but he would like to pass the torch to a willing and cheerful volunteer.
4)  Shout out to Rich Amato for serving as substitute-Secretary for the month of December.  Thanks Rich for keeping attendance and Bulletins up to date.

“Anyone can go through the motions. We can wave our lamps wildly, but it doesn’t matter if they aren’t lit.” - Sharon Lewis
The motto of Rotary is "Service Above Self." We all know from experience how much more we can accomplish together than alone. Along those lines, it is imperative that we actively promote our club and invite friends and coworkers to join.

Have a great week, everybody, and don't forget to ask your friends and coworkers to come to have breakfast with us next Friday!
