Jasmine Gagnon is 19 years old. She took a gap year after high school and spent seven months traveling throughout Oceania, Asia, and Europe. Whilst abroad, Jasmine spent six weeks volunteering at My Angels Academy in Delhi, India, where she was deeply moved by the transformation of underprivileged slum children into mature leaders. She will be attending McGill University in Quebec, Canada beginning September 2019 where she will study ecological agriculture.
My Angels Academy is a registered non-profit that aims to give aid to underprivileged slum children in India. It was started by Sylvester Peter about thirty years ago and continues to grow each year. My Angels Academy uses football (soccer) as a way to teach slum children life skills and to empower them to get out of the vicious circle of poverty. Along with football and academics, My Angels Academy teaches Angels (Academy students) many other extracurricular activities such as yoga, arts and crafts, and traditional dance. My Angels Academy has had a profound long-term impact on the lives of many Angels, providing them with opportunities that would not be possible for ordinary slum children. Most senior Angels attend university while also teaching a variety of subjects to younger Agnels, and a few Angels have also received prestigious sponsorships to play football for major leagues in Europe.

Courage is not the lack of fear, but facing the fear and taking on the challenge that is in front of you anyway.
