"We could learn a lot from crayons:                                                    Image

Some are sharp, Some are pretty,

Some are dull, Some have weird names,

And all are different colors;

But they all have to live in the same box."

"There are three kinds of men. The ones that learn by reading.

The few who learn by observation.

The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence for themselves.”

Deanna Crispen, 2013-14 Club President announced Rotarian of the Year as follows:

I cannot tell you the time or the place when I met this year’s Rotarian of the Year…I can tell you that I was immediately drawn to their effervescent personality and inner joy. As the years have passed, this Rotarian and I have had many opportunities to share in Rotary, in life’s experiences and to witness the deep abiding faith with which she tackles each day.

She is a tireless volunteer for many of our community’s most needy and does so without regard of recognition or credit…She even finds time to sew dresses for underprivileged children around the world. She has chaired our Steak Fry, our Children’s Christmas Party, chaired the Salvation Army bell ringers and always is willing when needed to pray for us as individuals and a club.

Rotary Club of Logansport received a great blessing in May 2004 when Angie Berry joined our club and it is my great privilege tonight to name Angie Berry as Rotarian of the Year for 2013-14 in recognition of her tremendous service to our club and community.

China: Visited by Senator Randy Head

Recently, Senator Randy Head along with his wife Lisa visited China. While visiting, they opened discussion on building a sister city relationship.  Along with networking and developing relationships, they were able to exchange knowledgeable information, encourage international cooperation, and develop goodwill.  Randy and Lisa shared interesting facts, such as how high schools are residential which allows students to stay at school throughout the week. Another interesting fact was how they use ATM machines for test results from the hospital. The future goal is to create jobs and establish work in our community. Logansport will be visited by a representative from China this fall, in hopes of signing a memorandum of understanding.  Through this, we hope to continue to foster economic development as well as establish paramount relationships.
