Thanks to a grant of $3,000 from Rotary District 6540 and $500 donations from both the Munster Huntington Rotary Clubs plus additional funds from globalbike, a new, beautiful Bike Shop is now in existence and functional in Tanzania!

During the week of July 16, 2018, the Bike Shop built in Tanzania as a joint venture between the Rotary Clubs of Munster and Huntington, Indiana, Rotary District 6540 and globalbike in Spartanburg, South Carolina was completed by C-re-aid and handed over to the local women of Enaboishu

Enaboishu (meaning “Unity”) is a Maasai women’s group in the village of Mikocheni which is about an hour and a half’s drive from the town of Moshi in Kilimanjaro region. A community gathering was held to celebrate the handing over of the Bike Shop to the local women's group.

globalbike provided training for women at Enaboishu in bicycle maintenance and repair so that they can service bicycles locally. globalbike also subsidized spare parts for bicycle programs while working on research to determine a strategy for transitioning subsidization to a sustainable business model. As women at Enaboishu master repair skills and receive spare parts donations, they needed storage for parts so that servicing occurs locally and timely.  At the completion of construction, Enaboishu women’s cooperative now fully own the bike shop building.
