Steve Olsen, Past President and recent radio interviewee recapped his assessment of local fire clean up delays.  For his celebrity Steve received recognition and remitted $10 to the club coffer.  Steve and spouse Lynn are among several members recovering from the loss of their home.

President Doug Shureen proceeded to summarize our year to date's highlights and reintroduce the Board of Directors.  In case you missed them, here are your Directors:  Secretary Peter Hoberg, Treasurer Penny Millar, Past President Merle Hayes, Marty Behr At Large, Paul O Rear Membership, Jennifer Adams Activities, Brian Rondon Administration, Image Jack Strange, Rotary Foundation Randy Seelye and President Elect Rich Randolph.

Highlighting this year's achievements are:  Completion of the Sabalos Nicaragua Clinic constriction.  A Global Grant is in process to equip the Center.  Peter Hoberg participated in Pedal for Polio's 360 mile trek from Eureka to Rohnert Park, raising $139,000. Our club is engaged in the District 5130 Fire Relief Fund, and has distributed $61,500 to date, the most of any District Club.  SRKSEP is on track to host incoming students from Kagoshima Japan this summer.  We have made a successful move to Franchetti's from Fountaingrove Inn and thanks to Del Raby's foresight, our banners survived the fire.  The Ritz, our new format and venue fundraiser is gaining momentum for its' April 14 launch with Transcendence Theater.  Club Service Projects are moving forward with new vision and engagement.  Our social calendar is full, punctuated with world-class hikes including narrated tours.  We came together to Celebrate the life of Rotarian Rolf Wessman after 5 years of learning how to encourage and support him and his family during his ALS challenges.  We finally received a Club T shirt thanks to Peter Hoberg's creativity!!

Blushing bride-to-be and former Sunrise Board Member Carmen Gutierrez announced her New Year's engagement to mystery man "Daniel," shyly showing off her diamond ring. The couple have been dating for two years and plan to wed in March 2018.  Carmen's "great guy" has asked her mother and brother for their permission and blessing on their marriage.  Congratulations Carmen!

Penny Millar put on her no-fooling' face to remind members and guest of Saturday's upcoming Annual Game Night with eats and treats at her and husband Paul's accommodating home.

The evening was a great mix of friends, fabulous food and drink and friendly competition.

Five Club members — Marty Behr, MJ Girrard, Jennifer Adams, Merle Hayes, Paul O’Rear. Plus Tim Miller, former member and Exec Dir of West County Community Services and another of Tim’s staff members.

About 50 pasta, salad, bread and cake dinners served to very appreciative guests at the shelter. Happy holidays.

"We had a great time on that cruise and there was a leading alzheimers researcher on board that told us singing every day was important.  And the cruise director spoke with the pianist who only spoke German and each night he had us singing to popular tunes.  It was so much fun!  The hard part is we didn't read German and…  phones and Wifi didn’t work on ship."
