Rotary Resets Women's Recovery Services Furniture

Women's Recovery Services Director Linda Carlson, MSW, Center, is flanked by staff members who supervised Sunriser Rotarians who moved out office furniture Friday and reinstalled it Monday, January 2.

Members cleared four rooms of desks, files, chairs, and IT equipment.  Come Monday Morning, a bit more time was required to RECONNECT, PROPERLY, all the phones, printers, computers, and critical routers.  Rob Sanville and Leroy Carlenzoli took the wires by the right ends and within a couple of hours the office was humming, this new day with the look and aroma of a newly carpeted work center.

Was that a mouse??

On hand to flex their brain and brawn were again, commanders Leroy and Rob, with troops Steve Amend, Don Floriani, Jim Gray,  Peter Hoberg, Jim Kirkbride, Paul O Rear, Rich Randolph, Doug Shureen and Steve Worthen.  Steve W. gave his valuable professional advice on heavy furniture moving:  Use your legs, not your back to lift!  At last report, no c/o's pain or soreness were filed.

Captain Rob checking connections

Ahh, red to red, black to black~~

It took good traffic control!

And when I set this down, it's chow down!

Convention: Southern hospitality

Watch the Atlanta Braves play at SunTrust Park in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, site of the 2017 Rotary International convention.

The Atlanta Host Organization Committee is offering some good old-fashioned Southern hospitality at the Rotary International Convention from 10 to 14 June. It has planned a wide range of activities featuring everything from good food and music to inspiring tours of local landmarks. If it’s your first convention, these events are chances to meet fellow Rotarians from around the world, and if you’re an experienced convention goer, you can catch up with old friends.

Hall of Fame baseball player Hank Aaron will host Rotarians for a “Strike Out Polio” night at the new SunTrust Park, where you’ll watch the Atlanta Braves play the Philadelphia Phillies. If you like participatory sports, there will be a 3K Walk/Run for Peace at the beautiful Centennial Olympic Park.

Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit dedicated to building housing for low-income families, calls Atlanta home. You can spend an afternoon helping build walls for a Habitat for Humanity house.

Because nothing builds friendships like sharing good food, the host committee has put together several dining events, including a block party with dishes from local restaurants and of course the traditional Host Hospitality Night, which will offer food and fellowship in several metro Atlanta neighborhoods.
