Lake County Tree Planting
Nov. 16, 2017
Lake County >> Two days after flames blasted the hills of Cobb, Hidden Valley and Middletown, Jennifer Strong was making phone calls. She was reaching out to the four separate Rotary clubs around the lake, bringing them together to form the Lake Area Rotary Club Association (LARCA). She was chasing after $50,000, which she hoped to raise for fire victims. To say the LARCA surpassed that goal would be an understatement. Over a year later and the association had received $950,000 in donations. They’re inching toward the one million mark, and they very well might hit it. LARCA never expected to reach such an astounding number. |

Rotary Foundation / 5130 Fire Relief Fund
Dec. 07, 2017
We are interconnected with Rotarians everywhere. The Dec. 7 program presented by Randy Seelye and other members of our club will look into two significant ways Santa Rosa Sunrise Rotarians are making a difference – in the world and in our region of California following the devastating fires. First, we will look at the Rotary Foundation, and how our club has contributed more than $400,000 toward humanitarian efforts throughout the globe and what a difference our contributions – no matter how small – can make. And a look at how the 101-year-old Foundation has changed in recent years. Secondly, we will look at the Rotary 5130 Fire Relief Fund, which has raised more than $1.5 million to directly help those affected by the fire in Sonoma, Napa, Lake and Mendocino counties. A dozen of our Sunrise Rotarians are directly involved, interviewing those who have applied for fire relief – mostly to get their small businesses running again. |

Railroad Square Business Association
Jan. 25, 2018
Railroad Square is the historic heart of the downtown and is Santa Rosa’s “Old Town”. Railroad Square was honored with a listing on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 because of its preservation efforts for restoring and preserving the significant architectural buildings that represent the influence the railroad had on a community. When the first trains arrived in Railroad Square in the 1870’s, the focus of the town turned to the hustle and bustle around the Depot. Railroad Square is excited to announce the return of the passenger train in the Fall of 2016. Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) is a voter-approved passenger rail and bicycle-pedestrian pathway project located in Marin and Sonoma counties. It will serve a 70-mile corridor from Larkspur to Cloverdale, with a first phase from San Rafael to Santa Rosa, the main Santa Rosa station being in Railroad Square. |

Ehtical Bee Removal
Mar. 01, 2018
We are located in Santa Rosa. We serve all of the North Bay including Petaluma, Sebastopol, Sonoma County, Marin County and even the East Bay occasionally. We are a member of the Sonoma County Beekeepers Association, and our commitment is to do what we can, individually, and as a business, to help the plight of the honeybee. Our heart is in our work and we believe what we are doing is a good thing for the bees and for the environment. If you hire us to take your bees away alive, without killing them, you will participate in that paradigm and know that you are doing your part to help the environment, and especially the honeybee. Some say the honeybee is the environment's "canary in the coal mine". Sometimes it's just impossible to take the bees out alive and in that case we will euthanize them humanely. "As goes the way of the honeybee, so will man as well." Said Albert Einstein. So we should all have a selfish interest in creating a friendly environment for these amazing creatures. Protecting the genetic stocks of the wild populations is especially important. Over half of all our food depends on the pollination of the honey bee, so that's a great reason by itself to want to help them! |
